Generative Open Working in Twitter Spaces - Tokenomics
Open Workshops run using the 8 Elinor Ostrom principles, adhering to NVC as proposed by Marshal Rosenborg
We will be primarily discussing and evolving three documents about trust in working relationships within decentralised organisations, using Twitter Spaces. The documents are intended for open publication, with primary contributions from Gravity DAO personnel, in particular Bianca Gadhela and Peter Jones.
Here are the three source documents we will be working on.
Part 1: Establishing Personal Trust in Decentralised Communities
Part 2: Healthy & Unhealthy Collaboration in Decentralised Communities
Part 3: Trust Coordination & Support in Decentralised Communities
Why Twitter Spaces
A huge amount of AMA and generative activity takes place in DAOs using the Discord platform
Using Twitter Spaces can be a step forward, in being able to conduct generative work that can also be recorded, and has much more visibility. With Discord it’s not easy to record sessions. In general there is a lack of understanding with a majority of folk about how to run effective and focused sessions.
A better general outcome is that the accumulated body of knowledge is recording progress, not general chat sessions. We don’t always want to have to recourse to ChatGPT to find key points from any discussion.
This can make generative working available to Web 2 citizens as well as those who decided to move across early to Web 3. Bridges between the two worlds are needed, to help encourage adoption of new and exciting ways of working with huge potential.
Using Elinor Ostrom Community Rules
Twitter Spaces workshops will be run using Elinor Ostrom’s 8 Design Principles.
Ostrom 1: Define Boundaries
We probably need to consider how many interruptions to take inside an hour session, and will need to frame the discussion carefully.
Ostrom 2: Proportional Equivalence
It is Gravity work, and therefore Gravity can take centre stage. But, outsider contribution by text or voice can be helpful. So we propose to allow this, so long as it looks like being helpful.
Some of us haven't looked into co hosting in Twitter yet, and hope that it's easy UX.
It will be a bit trial and error to start with, although we have some initial experience, and will learn as we go.
Ostrom 3: Participation
As mentioned above, other people may be interested and want to take part.
If there isn't enough time or space during the hour, can we invite them back to a working group in Gravity, which could be a sub thread inside a Gravity channel.
Ostrom 4: Monitoring
Is it possible we can take it in turns to monitor both folk requesting the mike and folk commenting in the attaching thread.
Can we manage that maybe at the end of a section, to see whether comments can contribute.
Ostrom 5: Graduated Sanctions
If people are inadvertently breaking NVC, this also happened in the original source document, we could have a three level system.
Verbal warning using OFNR
Session blocked: no mike, only text comments
Account blocking: Let’s hope it doesn't come to this, we can't know what will happen in a Twitter Space. Again, maybe Twitter thought of this already.
Ostrom 6: Conflict Resolution
There may be disagreements, are we generally okay to use OFNR, and then move to sanctions if really needed?
Ostrom 7: Recognition of Rights
We want that people can express their opinions, even if these diverge from mainstream, or perhaps less so don’t connect clearly to the topic at hand. People have a right to speak. We can encourage those not speaking to post against the thread as needed.
Ostrom 8: Nested Enterprises
Where we can't answer questions, we can refer folk to other institutions, which we can again do through Discord if we can't do so on the spot. Ideally we can refer to folk in Twitter, but not everyone is as responsive in Twitter.
