Technology in Africa - AfriCoWorking
If we are to institute some kind of reparation in Africa for past imperialism, we could start with bringing new technologies to its emerging nations
Key Tech for Africa
The following tech is key in Africa, and will be followed by longer sections explaining in more detail.
Crypto Currencies - new ways to trade, new ways to grow value
Solar Power - provision of power and Web Access is essential to avoid “poverty”
AgriTech - test sites for AgriTech can be located using easy filtering processes
FinTech - oiling the wheels of change and opportunity in Africa
Earning Crypto in Africa
As Africa slowly gets acquainted with technology, new opportunities are emerging where more advanced Africans can earn crypto in exchange for digital task completion, either for discrete tasks, or for holding a crypto role for a season or more.
This typically means owning a smartphone and / or a laptop to be able to access crypto oriented software, often known as Web 3, for which accounts are required holding what is know as an electronic wallet, allowing access to an emerging range of new softwares.
The type of community that is encouraging earning behaviours like this is Bankless DAO, who connect their communities using a highly popular software platform called Discord. Like many such larger groups, they have tens of thousands of members busy in the DIscord space.
Entry Level Crypto-Based Trading
It is also possible to access circular trade opportunities using text based feature phone technology created by Grassroots Economics, know collectively as Sarafu Currencies, and for more advanced folk with smartphones, using Web 3 technology like CoinVise.
Solar Power
It is also a key factor to have access to local power and web access, because very little crypto capability is possible without these two important factors.
Sarafu is better here, in that web access is not needed, simply access to a telephony network will suffice. But all phones need recharging to be able to work.
In looking for suppliers, it matters that any supplier has a finance scheme that allows someone newly earning from power supply to local businesses to repay the cost of installation over a reasonable period of time, measured in years.
But new options are being brought on stream all the time, one of which being SolaPave, who are building roads and drone pads that are solar generators.

Hey mate, this is interesting. Sometimes I think in the gap between common people and crypto and web3 tech and tools. «It is also possible to access circular trade opportunities using text based feature phone technology created by Grassroots Economics, know collectively as Sarafu Currencies, and for more advanced folk with smartphones, using Web 3 technology like CoinVise».
How is this barrier being broken in reality in Africa?. Thks for sharing!i
