What Went Well
The Tokenomics Manifesto
Tokenomics is now a core project of mine. It has potential for contacts I have in Africa, but also family members who will need more radical new options in the years ahead.
The Tokenomics Pitch Deck
The pitch deck identifies why Tokenomics is a good idea, and the potential it has for growth in the months and years ahead.
Pitch deck to be produced after any responses to Retrospective.
Bankless Level 1
After many different connections, I arrived in the Bankless community, and despite some intermittancy, took maybe 18 months to earn a Level 1 community membership, largely through Discord contributions. An amazing feeling, to earn based on community contribution. While amounts earned are relatively small, it's much harder to do in geo-local locations.
Gravity - Trust in Working Relationships
There is a need in Web 3 to make good first impressions, to work effectively and healthily with people, and to deal with disagreements about good practice. GravityDAO protocols are key for future and continued improvement for DAOs.
What Can Be Done Better
Rapid Location of Contribution Opportunities
A key lesson from Bankless is to locate key documentation fast, particularly as relates to earning opportunity, inferring value contribution. Discord has superb search facilities, and this could be a key offering in a DAO, to see what currently exists, and what the DAO might consider for future development. This in turn can form part of a rating system, that a DAO could use to judge the progress it is making.
Key documents and channels for a Discord search include:
Monthly Guild or DAO plans about role holding and project targets
Bounty offerings
Going With What Is, Not What Might Be
Current facilities may be suboptimal, from an individual point of view, but it takes resource to make changes and improvements. We can hope that any DAO has effective change management in place. Providing this facility could be a key step up for a DAO so as to become that much more responsive.
Mutual Adaptation Between Individual & Community
The meeting of individual and community requires both to adapt. An individual could offer a community much more than is currently laid out in epoch planning. Can the DAO adapt to the individual, and can the individual match their contributions to both current DAO plans and where the DAO might like to go. Of course, the community need to see contributions, value them, and agree future direction.
The following areas of potential friction need coping mechanisms to navigate.
Plotting & supporting inclusion staging posts
Defining and meeting community priorities
Ability to support opportunity spotting and harnessing
Quelling impatience, ego and other friction points
Gaining Feedback from Synch Meetings
AMA Synch meetings at the moment don’t allow folk from other timezones to take part. Discord doesn’t record meetings. So Twitter meetings may become more the norm, allowing meetings to be recorded. The advent of ChatGPT also allows audio transcripts, meaning key meetings can be consumed faster than by waiting for the actual event to unwind in 1:1 time.
DAO Onboarding & Development Frameworks
Providing a range of development frameworks can help folk assess DAOs, and find good places to make a contribution.
The following are areas for further exploration and continuous improvement.
Epoch Interpretations & Assessments
Assisted Negotiated Joining
DeWork, Crew 3, Coordinape Training & Implementation
Train the Trainers
Retrospectives, SWOT Analyses
Twitter Spaces
4pm GMT/BST showtimes
Cohort, buddy & apprentice programmes
Coordinape Proposal - Inclusion for Web 1.5
Coordinape are willing to discuss community initiatives that attempt to connect Web 3 technology with folk stuck in Facebook, equivalently Web 1.5.
Grant Locations & Applications - Miro, Crew 3, Target Community Standards
Most DAOs do understand a need to trade with other DAOs. The ability to do this can be a boost to a DAO in finding ways to counteract the tendency DAO guilds and working groups have to rely on internal funding, draining internal treasuries, rather than seeking mutually beneficial trade opportunity.
Better Behavioural Breadcrumbs
DYOR, Google More, Seek Higher Personal Standards, Respect Others’ Time, Conquer Fears, Be Who You Are, Find Ideators (Researchers) & Team Builders, Listen to Ops Discussions
Roadmap - How To Get There
Develop Asynch Working Practice - ChatGPT
Run Open Twitter Spaces Workshops
For Gravity, it’s possible to see Gravity working, in action, and using eg Elinor Ostrom principles in real life workshops where folks “build in the open.
Generative Open Working in Twitter Spaces - Tokenomics
Photo by Duy Pham on Unsplash We will be primarily discussing and evolving three documents about trust in working relationships within decentralised organisations, using Twitter Spaces. The documents are intended for open publication, with primary contributions from Gravity DAO personnel, in particular Bianca Gadhela and Peter Jones.
